New Year, Same Me

Happy New Year! Many do not know this, but I spent the last 100 days of 2017 focused on wellness. For those months  (yes, months) I meditated, exercised and practiced intuitive eating daily. In the process, I became stronger and had more energy. I even lost weight.

Despite bad weather, oversleeping and work–I did something everyday; a spin  class, a session on the elliptical or  (worst case) an at home workout from a magazine. I put myself first and it made a huge difference.

As my 100 days came to a close, my winter travel began. I headed to the island of Grenada. I practiced yoga, swam, walked the beach and laid in the sun. It was the perfect way to end the year. So, when the new year came I had no reason to seek a new me.

In 2018, I’ll continue to strengthen the same me. I made no resolutions but set personal, professional and financial goals. I look forward to what is come this year. I’m attending conferences, expos, writing articles and posting right here.

What’s your plan for 2018? Tell me.

Norwegian Escape in NYC

This week I attended a presentation by Norwegian Cruise Line to learn more about the new ship coming to the cruise terminal in Manhattan. The Norwegian Escape will begin routes from New York in the spring. I was one of a lucky few that were able to preview the entertainment, food and drinks (thanks to Voli Vodka) that will be available on the ship. Along woth company executives, Norwegian Cruise Line partner–the rapper Pitbull was there to greet guests and share news about his work with the cruise line. He also emphasized their joint charitable work to help victims of the recent hurricanes. It was an event full of fun and good energy.

NYT Travel Show 2016

The New York Times Travel Show was a weekend jam packed with information and travel deals. Before the official expo, the Cruise Line International Association hosted a private reception. I was able to chat with major cruise companies about what’s up-and-coming.

Friday was the trade day and conference at Javits Center, there I gained insight on travel media and learned the top destinations for 2016. When sessions ended, the expo was opened to preview.

Saturday and Sunday were consumer days, so the atmosphere was quite lively with seminars, performances, cooking demos and contests. There was even a silent auction for Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association Education Fund.

The weekend was so informative and exciting. I look forward to the articles and posts that develop because of it. I hope you come on this journey with me.

What’s in store for 2016?

Still thinking about Barbados…

While in Barbados last month,  I had the pleasure of visiting The Crane resort and residences. The beautifully landscaped property was the highlight of the trip. For my last full day on the island, I made a reservation for “Gospel Brunch” and spent some time on a nearby beach.  After touring the property (and yes, there is a kids club), I know exactly where I’ll stay when I return to Barbados.

Throwback to Barbados

I’ve wanted to post for weeks, but had to get my son settled into the new school year and myself back to work. Summer is over and there was a dip in the temperature here in New York. This made me long for sunny beaches.

My final summer trip was to Barbados. There we had plenty of sunshine, sandy beaches and sweet rum punch.  (Take a peek at photos of Dover Beach, Mount Gay Rum Tour, Harrison’s Cave and Oistins Fish Fry.) My hope is that the memories will keep me warm through the winter.
